Information technology'due south the polite matter to do! It doesn't have to exist a large gift or anything, even a card is appreciated.

Normally yes. Merely because I am unable to make the wedding. doesn't mean i'm non just equally happy for them every bit if I were able to attend.

Thank you ladies. I inquire this bc I was and so surprised that everyone who has declined has sent us gift or coin! They aren't even that close to us, like not a family unit member simply but coworkers, and they don't gift light either, like $100 min. I didn't really need them to do and then, I am just surprised all of them did that, so kind of them.
I have started writing thank you notes to those ones...

Of course! I'yard surprised the responses to this are non more than enthusiastic. I ever always requite a souvenir if I'm invited to a hymeneals, whether or not I attend (although I unremarkably requite less if I don't go). I practise recall that's expected.

Can I piggyback off of this question and ask when you would ship the gift if you can't go to the wedding? Right away when you RSVP no, or closer to their nuptials appointment?

Certain in my experience, in that location are most 12 gifts/money nosotros received from ppl who tin can't brand information technology, 11 of them do the RSVP and gift at the same time ( it's online). Ane of them sent gift about ii weeks after the pass up. So virtually of them practise send RSVP ( NO) and gift at the same fourth dimension.

I usually transport a cheque forth with my RSVP no. The merely time I did not was when nosotros got an invite that was clearly a B listing invite (most got their invites in January, nosotros got ours in March along with ii other couples we know) AND they had a impaired verse form about simply giving them money included in their invite. No and no, commencement they weren't even going to invite usa, 2nd theyre just inviting us for the money. Hard pass. Lol i was truly offended.

This doesn't seem to be the norm simply I don't e'er souvenir if I tin can't attend. To me it depends on how shut i am to the couple that invited me. Close friend / family - always.... Coworkers child or afar friend i oasis't seen in a long time, probably not. It simply depends.

I honestly did the same thing you did previously. If I couldn't attend, I didn't send annihilation. That's why I am surprised!! I now feel that I put people nether pressure to gift when I invited them...

It completely depends on my relationship to the couple. A close friend or family unit fellow member whose wedding I wanted to attend but, was unable to then I would definitely gift something and give a heartfelt card.
Distant relative or coworker, I'd probably send a bill of fare of congratulations but, no gift.
For anyone else I'm not sending anything. I was in one case B-listed to a coworker's daughters wedding ceremony (I received the invite iv days before the wedding ceremony). I'd never met the girl and wasn't particularly close to the mom either. I said no to that 1 pretty fast and didn't ship anything. Mom came around after the wedding with one of the favors and said how much the couple missed me not beingness there (ha!) and hinted around about a gift. Still didn't gift anything and no regrets.

It depends for me. My bones rule of thumb is, if I desire to go, only have a disharmonize, I'll send a gift (from the registry). If, still, I'thousand actively choosing non to go considering I don't want to, I'm prrrooobbbably not going to send anything. This is more than typical for me with situations where I am not particularly close with the couple. More than anything, it'southward because I forget as I'k non super invested in the effect.

When I was invited to my cousins wedding I got the invite solely for the souvenir. She lives in FL and I live in OH and accept seen each other less than 10 times in our lives. I didn't even recognize her the final fourth dimension she was in OH. And then no I did not send her a gift. I would feel differently if it was a 18-carat invite and I merely couldn't go but wanted to.
